Mickey Hart is one of my heroes

Mickey Hart is one of my heroes. My long-standing love affair and experience with the Grateful Dead that began in 1980, and the fact that we share a common name certainly have something to do with it, but I am in awe of Mickey for the body of work he has put forth and paid forward outside of the Grateful Dead.

some solace in California

Soul searching in a state that encourages it is better than the alternative. I realized this yesterday thanks to Bill Maher. Check out last week's episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher" on HBO and go to the part well into the show where he does a diatribe on California and why at least our state is getting it right

This is a new collaborative piece completed recently and just added to the site titled "Liquid Garden." A photograph taken by my daughter Emma Lane Samuelson in Golden Gate Park (San Francisco) which I then played with digitally (Photoshop and onOne software), printed, then mounted and framed...
three poems
Here are three poems, "Almost Time," "It's Tomorrow," and "Not So Distant Memory" from my upcoming first book of poems to be self-published in 2014. I write free verse most of the time, but there are a few forms I seem to gravitate to every now and again, one being the pantoum. The second of these poems, "It's Tomorrow," is a pantoum.
one mind blog appears

The one mind blog appears out of nowhere. Wow, finally doing this (been on my list and mind for years now) the one mind blog is where I, as artist, poet, designer, minister (Centers for Spiritual Living), and spiritual being having a human experience, will share mostly about the creative process and creative expression, as it is something that consumes me, one way or another, much of the time...
